On May 2, 2008, comic book movie history was made. Marvel Studios released their first movie solely funded by them: Iron Man. At the end of the credits for that movie, there was a small clip. It was simple really. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) walks into a room and sees Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) standing there. Nick Fury said he was here to talk to Tony "about the 'Avengers' initiative." With that one line, Marvel changed the face of comic book movies forever. Four years and five movies (Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger) later, we got the movie the others had been advertising for all this time: The Avengers. I'll be brief. This movie was AWESOME. Once I had gotten out of the theater, my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. This was the most entertaining, most satisfying, most inner-fanboy-satiating comic book movie I'd seen up to that point. It wasn't just a good superhero movie, it was a good movie period. Quit wasting time and go see it right now! It's definitely worth your money.
